Noriko Okura wins 2013 EKU Golden Apple!

Noriko Okura, Visiting Assistant Professor of Japanese Studies, was awarded the 2013 EKU Golden Apple Awards for the College of Arts and Sciences: Arts division.

She received a record 6 Student nominations: it represents the most nominations ever for an individual instructor!!



EKU Spanish Majors attend 2013 K'LEA LIDERship conference

Spanish majors Andrew Betancourt, Kamyla Andrlik and Joselmys Labarre represented EKU at the Kentucky Latino Educational Alliance LIDERship conference at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky held on Saturday, March 30, 2013.

FRLH Faculty nominated for 2013 EKU Golden Apple Awards

Noriko Okura (Japanese Studies), Randi Polk (French Studies), and Socorro Zaragoza (Spanish Studies) were nominated for the 2013 EKU Golden Apple Awards. 

Student nominations providesubmit these faculty for excellence in teaching for the 2012-2013 Academic Year.  


Dr. Engling receives 2013 EKU International Alumni Association's Award for Teaching Excellence

Ezra Engling, Professor of Spanish, has been selected as one of the EKU International Alumni Association's 2013 recipients of their Award for Teaching Excellence. 

This annual award recognizes 2 EKU faculty by the alumni for strong classroom performance and demonstrated commitment to students.  The award is presented along with a $750 cash stipend.

Dr. Engling nominated for 2013 Case Hall Faculty Dinner honoree

Ezra Engling, Professor of Spanish, has been nominated by a student to attend the Case Hall Faculty Dinner in where students nominate those faculty and staff that have made an impact on them.  Students get the chance to meet the Faculty/Staff outside of the classroom.  The dinner will be held on April 15th at 5pm in Case Ba

FRLH Faculty nominated for 2013 EKU Crititcal Thinking Teachers of the Year

Karoline Manny, Noriko Okura, Randi Polk, Un-Chol Shin and Socorro Zaragoza were nominated for the 2013 EKU Crititcal Thinking Teachers of the Year. 

Student nominations and written comments provide evidence that these faculty use a variety of teaching techniques focused on critical/creative thinking, and are committed to student success.
