Congratulations to the SPA Studies program winners of the Kennamer & Layne-Wood Scholarship Spring '17!
Kendra Isaacs - SPA major, Ciara Perez - SPA and Globalization double major, Robert Williams - SPA major, and Kaitlyn Floriek - SPA minor, have all earned the Kennamer & Layne-Wood Scholarship for the Spring '17 season!
Mx. Isaacs will be attending the Puebla Exchange program in Puebla, Mexico and was awarded funding from the Kennamer Scholarship program.
Mx. Perez is attending the CIS Thailand study abroad program and was awarded funding from both the Kennamer Scholarship & Layne-Wood Scholarship programs.
Mx. Williams and Mx. Floriek are attending the SOL Costa Rica study abroad program. Mx. Roberts was awarded funding from Layne-Wood Scholarship program. Mx. Floriek was awarded funding from the Kennamer Scholarship program.
The Laura D. Kennamer Endowed Scholarship Fund, established by the late Laura D. Kennamer, aids and fosters the educational experience of students attending Eastern Kentucky University who are majoring in programs in the areas of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Eligable candidates must be an EKU student majoring in Animal Studies, Anthropology, Art & Design, Broadcasting & Electronic Media, Communications, Economics, English, Globalization & International Affairs, Geography, Paralegal, Political Science, History, Foreign Languages, Humanities, Music, Philosophy, Public Relations, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work. Award amounts vary depending on need, as demonstrated on the application. Typical awards have been $1,000-$10,000, but could be higher.
The Layne-Wood Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Robert G. Wood and Judy M. Layne-Wood to provide assistance to students from Kentucky. Eligable candidates are degree seeking full-time EKU students who are residence of KY, of any academic major, in good academic standing with 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA (college or high school). Award amount depends on market value of fund; recent awards have been between $500-$800.
