Bailey S., SPA

EKU Spanish Student

I am very thankful for the opportunity I had to study abroad this summer. It opened my eyes to so many possibilities that are available to students here at EKU, and it transformed the direction of my higher education.

Chandlar T., SPA

Studying abroad was one of the most amazing things I could have ever done. I learned so much about the culture, the food, and the language. I lived with a host family, it was a mother and her daughter and they were so sweet. They helped in any way they could to make my roommate and my stay as welcoming as possible.

Floyd O., SPA Major

I am currently working as an AmeriCorps Vista with a non-profit in Lexington called the South Eastern Medical Interpreters Association (SEMIA). AmeriCorps Vista is basically like the Peace Corps, but to combat domestic poverty. The goal of SEMIA is to provide accessible healthcare to immigrants and non-English speakers, as well as raising awareness for the rights of these individuals.

Hannah L., Spanish Minor

Studying abroad in Costa Rica has been one of the best experiences I have had during my undergraduate studies. Along with learning another language, I received a greater concept of issues, places, and people around the world. The people I met there taught me the meaning of generosity, kindness, and hospitality.

Cindy R., French Major

Cindy, BA in French has a successful career as an independent interpreter/subtitler and has been living in Germany the last four years. She lived in France at two different times and worked as an au pair.

Luci R., French Major

"I got a job!  Thank you!  I'm the new French teacher at Western Hills High School in Frankfort!  Thank you for your support, letters of recommendation, encouragement, etc.!" (2011)

Sara L., French Major

"I graduated in May 2007.  After my studies at EKU in French and International Business I went to Aix en Provence for eight months as an Au-pair.  I greatly improved my language skills and became fluent. I loved living in France, especially in Aix.

Rebecka B., French Major

"I just received my Master's in Social Work [from U of L] in the last few months. I debated on what I wanted to do with it, but returned to my original interest in working with immigrants and refugees. I took an Americorps position working at Americana Community Center here in Louisville.
