Cindy, BA in French has a successful career as an independent interpreter/subtitler and has been living in Germany the last four years. She lived in France at two different times and worked as an au pair. She got her MA in French Translation from the Monterrey Institute in California and then went to France to do stages (internships) in subtitling/dubbing  for the movie industry

"I'm living in Germany at the moment, a small town called Hattingen. I moved here after finishing my Masters in Translation back in 2007.   I've been a full-time freelance translator and subtitler ever since!  I absolutely LOVE my job. I always have something new to translate, something new to learn about, and it's always intriguing. The economic crisis also spared me; I've been able to have enough work and make a good living. It's so nice to have a career doing something you love! You can definitely recommend translation or interpretation to your students if they aren't interested in teaching for example, it's a wonderful career." (2011)
